6 month update

Ok, neither I or the secretary at the doc's office can count so we made her 6 month appointment for when she turns 7 months. So I have no measurements but I do have updates. Samantha is grabbing for everything. She loves the tub ans splashes like crazy with a big smile on her face. She has finally decided that she'll eat solids and loves carrots and sweet potatoes. She wasn't too sure of pears but that may be because it was her first fruit. She gets the walker going now and has gotten up on all fours but no real sense of crawling yet. She must be going through a growth spurt because she has been eating all night lately. Every night around 6 pm she talk away...loudly! She's such a happy baby and is such a joy to be around.

Funny Faces

Samantha is experimenting with her face which I find endlessly amusing! LOL! Here's one of them.

Hanging with Dominic

I have no idea what they're looking at but I can't beleive they have the same expression!

6 Months Old!!!

I know I always say this, but how does time go so fast? Samantha is already 6 months old!! Happy half-birthday baby girl!

1st Thanksgiving

Samantha got to sit in the highchair at Thanksgiving while Dominic sat in a big boy chair. Of course she didn't eat anything since she really wasn't into the whole solid food thing yet.

Aunt Marilyn's sweater

I received this sweater at Dominic's shower. Obviously he didn't wear it but Samantha looks adorable. Thank you for making this sweater Aunt Marilyn.

Sitting by herself!

On November 15th (5 months exactly) Samantha started sitting all by herself! She had been trying for a while and was pretty close where she could hold herself for a few seconds. Now she's like an old pro and can turn to look around and grab thing while she's sitting. I still put some pillows behind her if I leave the room but otherwise she's pretty independent as long as her brother doesn't get too overzealous!

1st Halloween!

For Samantha's first halloween she got to be a chili pepper and accompany her brother trick or treating. She did great even though she did have a bit of a cold.

Samantha Update

On October 30th Samantha had her 4 month check up. A little late but Dominic already had a 2 year appointment for that day so we decided one trip to the doctor was enough. She did great with her vaccines and didn't cry until the 2nd one. She smiled away at the doctor and the nurse. She measured 25.5 inches long (90th%) and 14 pound 15 ounces (75th%). The nurse asked us how we ended up with such big kids. I think it's the recessive genes!

I know haven't had much time to keep the blog current but Samantha is such a happy baby. She smiles easily and is pretty mellow still. (Although she does occasionally have the Richardson Scowl!) She loves her brother!! She is such a joy to be around.

We went to Massachusettes for Jorja's baptism and had a great weekend sharing a suite with Gee and Papa and visiting Salem. We were just hanging out back at the hotel and Samantha was so cute I had to take a picture!

Samantha hasn't shown too much interest in eating solids yet but I decided to give it a try on October 26th since she has seemed hungry in the evenings (and Dominic was chowing down on solids by now.)

Well, she wasn't real thrilled. She wanted to hold the spoon but was not a fan of the mush going into her mouth. She even spit up what little she did get in. Oh well, we'll wait a while and try again.

Hi Mom!!!

Party Girl!

All dressed up for Dominic's 2nd Birthday party!

I like that kid!

Samantha absolutely lights up when she sees Dominic!

Who's that?

Who's that pretty girl?

Sitting in the boppy

Samantha is getting much stronger and is able to be a little more independent, with some help.

Rolling over!

Samantha had been trying so hard to roll over from her back. She was so close all weekend and then she finally did it on October 3rd! (While mommy was at work!) Thankfully daddy video taped it for me. Yay Samantha!!

I love fall in Vermont!

It's hard to get her not to focus on the light on the camera but I was trying to catch the adorable face she was making!

During her week with Daddy, Samantha decided that she would take a pacifier, something she has refused all along. She's still working on keeping it in her mouth though. Here she is during one of her many naps!

Note the great baby chub! :-)

Samantha is starting to try to reach her toys and hold on to them. She doesn't quite have the control yet and she's pretty vocal when she gets frustrated. Even still, Samantha is such an easy baby. She's very mellow and smiles easily. She loves watching Dominic and talking away.

Work :-(

Unfortunately we did not win the powerball so I had to go back to work. It wasn't any easier than the first time and I was very glad to get home at the end of the day. They did great with daddy though and thankfully we learned the trick to get Samantha to take a bottle. Latex nipples! Thanks to a tip from Shauna we tried it out and it worked. Phew! Mommy was getting VERY nervous when after 4 bottles and only one week left before work and Samantha was still refusing the bottle. We bought a latex nipple, put it on the bottle and braced ourselves for the inevitable crying. To our surprise (and relief) she started sucking, drank two ounces and fell asleep!

Samantha loves standing but she's still a bit short for the walker or jumper so we decided to get her an exersaucer.

The obligatory wine picture

Everyone picked on the picture of Dominic smiling with a glass of wine in the foreground so I decided Samantha needed one too!

What a pretty girl

Here we are at Aunt Lauren and Uncle Brad's annual Labor day BBQ.

Samantha is very lucky to have such a loving brother!

A glimpse into the future...

I imagine that I'll see this expression again in the teen years...

Samantha missed her swing while we were in Florida but she did enjoy the rocking chair which we used whenever the sun was gone.

Long lost family

Well, not really but I haven't seen Stacy in years and the kids weren't even in existence the last time we saw each other. We had a great visit while Keith, Alex and Shane went to the Space Center. Here's a rare picture of Samantha, Kaylea and Dominic looking in the same general direction.

1st Trip to Florida

We all went down for a week in Florida and Samantha had her 1st flight. She did fantastic. She didn't cry and slept off and on for most of the flight. We have such great travelers! Although while we were down there she decided that the car was no longer a nice place to be and she cried every road trip. I'm not sure what it was but hopefully it was just the rental car!

Soo Cold!!!

Ok, it is still August right?? Well, as much as I thought I would never put Samantha in these clothes, it's been so cold that we had to! Samantha has become much more aware of her surroundings lately and is starting to really be able to look at her toys. She even smiles at her playmat now.

More Smiling!

What can I say, she's adorable! And yes I know I cut off the top of her head in these pictures. Someone (*cough* *cough* Keith) changed the settings in the camera and I couldn't see what I was taking.

Happy Baby!

My endless attempt to capture those dimples on film!!! She's also found her hands and is always trying to jam them into her mouth. Now if she could just find her thumb...

2 Month Checkup

On the 16th Samantha had her 2 month check up. She measured 23" long and weighed 11pounds 11 ounces. She's in the 75th percentile for all of her measurements. She also had her first set of vaccines (from the good nurse!). Can you believe that they've added yet another vaccine to the schedule since Dominic was this age?! Although we chose to get it (it was an oral vaccine for Rotavirus) this is exactly why we are following a delayed schedule for Dominic and Samantha. She handled the shots well and we kept up the tylenol until bed time.

Hanging out with Mama

Chilling out with my girl!

Mozart Fest

While Dominic was terrorizing the snooty people at the mozart festival, Samantha was have a nice quiet time with Papa.
